Most of us know excess sodium can impact your blood pressure, but did you know it can also negatively affect your kidneys, heart, and even interfere with bone health–bad news for our little guys who are trying to build bone!!
It is recommended we consume no more than 2300mg sodium per day (1500mg if you are >50 yrs old). If you or your kiddos regularly eat all 10 of the above, it’s time to cut back or find a good alternative!!
Look for ‘No Salt Added’ and ‘Lite or Low Sodium’ products. (Don’t be fooled by ‘Reduced Sodium’ claims. Reduced from what? 1000mg?? Trust me, it’s usually not much better than the original.) Eat fresh food as much as possible.
