Fruit & Flax Granola Bars

This recipe makes for a great healthy snack – filled with protein, fiber, and healthy fatty acids.  For those of you that are non-breakfast eaters, this is something you can make ahead of time and grab and go with in the morning as you’re heading out the door.  I originally found the idea from AllWhites® Liquid Egg Whites and made some tweaks and adjustments for great health benefits and through experimenting with different amounts of ingredients.  The makes about 16 bars, using a 13 x 9 baking pan.


  • 4 cups oatmeal
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • ½ cup chopped dates
  • ½ cup sliced almonds
  • ¼ cup ground flaxseed meal
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1/3 cup canola oil
  • 1 ½ cups liquid egg whites


Heat the oven to 325°.  Grease a 13 x 9 baking pan.  In a large bowl, stir ingredients together until mixture is completely moist and coated.  Firmly press mixture into prepared baking pan using rubber spatula.  Bake 25 minutes or until bars are lightly golden brown.  Cool completely.
